Aylesbury Duck The ducks most commonly available nowadays are a special breed developed and produced in Norfolk and Lincolnshire. The traditional Aylesbury duck is now only available from specialist breeders along with other older breeds and while they make excellent eating they are expensive. The other type available is the Barbury duck, usually sold jointed, which is a descendant of the large wild Moscovy duck and is much leaner than the traditional. Although we call these birds ducks most are actually ducklings which means they were killed at seven weeks old or before the second feather stage which usually occurs around two months old.
